Soil Mitigation

The expansive (plastic) clays are prevalent in Central Texas. Structures founded on these expansive clays move with shrinkage and swelling of these clays. The magnitude of the movement of these clays can be mitigated using a variety of techniques. InTEC of San Antonio presents many options to reduce potential soil movement:

  • Remove the existing expansive clays to stated depth and replace it with soils with lower expansive potential.
  • Moisture condition the on-site clays
  • Inject water into existing clays to reduce the expansive potential

Each option has its advantages and disadvantages.
